The Dream Of A King

In the second chapter of the book of Daniel, we see an amazing prophecy of what was to happen from his time till the end of time. There are many critics against when Daniel was written due to the prophecies being so accurate and clear. Many try to move the date of the writing of the book. It used to be said against the book of Daniel that it was a work of fiction due to him mentioning a king no other historian had even recorded. His name was King Belshazzar. Some used this to attack the authenticity of the book because the argument was:  If you lived in that time, why are you mentioning kings that don’t exist?

Later, a cylinder seal was excavated by Sir Austen Henry Layard (et al) in Ur (Iraq). The cylinder seal included a prayer of Nabonidus for him and his son and part of it reads:

“As for me, Nabonidus, king of Babylon, save me from sinning against your great godhead and grant me as a present a life long of days, and as for Belshazzar, the eldest son - my offspring - instill reverence for your great godhead in his heart and may he not commit ant cultic mistake, may he be sated with a life of plenitude.” - Livius

The archaeological evidence became conclusive that Daniel was a first eye account of what happened in Babylon. No other source could name this king by name. As it currently stands, from ancient sources Belshazzar’s name only appeared in two places on planet earth: The Bible and the excavated documents found. Now onto the prophecy!

2 Peter 1:20 tells us that ‘no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation’. Knowing this first is crucial in our understanding of prophecy.

We can’t define what prophetic verses mean based on our own personal opinions. We must let the bible define itself. Daniel 2 “And in the second year of the reign [604-603 BC] of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.” Nebuchadnezzar dreamed a very troubling dream so terrible that he lost sleep. The king then wanted his wisemen to define the dream for him. The twist was he wanted them to read his mind and tell him what he dreamed with the interpretation.

Daniel 2:4  “Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. 5 The king answered and said to the ChaldeansThe thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof”.

At this point, the king is asking them to read his mind and tell him what he was thinking and here’s how his wise men replied:

Daniel 2:10 “The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. 11 And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. 12 For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. 13 And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain”.

The king had paid these people good money to do extraordinary things, at this point he realised he had essentially been paying them for nothing. These people could not do supernatural things. This level of power only belongs to the Lord. The wise men got one thing right “there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods”. Notice how the king decreed all the wise men should be slain. This got Daniel in trouble because he was in the class of wise men. We learn this from Daniel 1.

Daniel 1:3 “And the king [Nebuchadnezzar] spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes; 4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans”.

Daniel, stuck in a predicament, petitions the king for time and asks him for time to interpret the dream. (See Daniel 2:14-18) Then God gave Daniel the same vision the king had in a dream. Daniel 2:19 “Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven”. This is the famous dream Daniel saw: Daniel 2:31 “Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible32 This image's head was of fine goldhis breast and his arms of silverhis belly and his thighs of brass33 His legs of ironhis feet part of iron and part of clay. 34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. 36 This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king”.

What was the interpretation?

Daniel 2:38 “And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold”. We learn Babylon is the head of Gold.

Prophecy number 1 – Gold to silver

Daniel 2:39 “And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee…”

“Belshazzar died after Babylon fell to the Persian general Gobyras without resistance on Oct. 12, 539, and probably before the Persian king Cyrus II entered the city 17 days later.” – Encyclopaedia Britannica

Babylon did fall in 539 BC to the Medo-Persian empire, which would later be consolidated into being known as just the Persian empire.

Prophecy number 2 – Silver to brass

Daniel 2:39 “… and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth”.

“During the rule of the Persian Achaemenid dynasty (559–330 BC), the ancient Greeks first encountered the inhabitants of Persis on the Iranian plateau, when the Achaemenids—natives of Persis—were expanding their political sphere. The Achaemenids were the dominant dynasty during Greek history until the time of Alexander the Great, and the use of the name Persia was gradually extended by the Greeks and other peoples to apply to the whole Iranian plateau”. – Encyclopaedia Britannica

The brass empire took its place after the Achaemenids/Persians when Alexander the Great made a name for himself, creating an empire extending from the west even unto India.

Prophecy number 3 – A vast dominion

Daniel 2:39 “… and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth”.

Alexander the Great's conquests freed the West from the menace of Persian rule and spread Greek civilization and culture into Asia and Egypt. His vast empire stretched east into India”. -Encyclopaedia Britannica.

In the context of how Daniel is written, king Nebuchadnezzar and King Darius both considered their empires as dominating “all the earth”. Daniel 4:11 “The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth.”  Daniel 6:25 “Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.”

Hence as Alexander the Great conquered the lands which exceeded both empires his rule was vaster than both Babylon and Persia.

Prophecy 4 – Brass to Iron.

Daniel 2:40 “And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise”.

“The battle pitted the Macedonian phalanx against the Roman legion, with the latter emerging as the more-versatile fighting formation. Macedonian losses were great; of the estimated 40,000 engaged, some 25,000 were killed and more than 10,000 were made prisoners. Perseus fled, allowing the Romans to end the Macedonian monarchy and divide Macedonia into four republics”. - Encyclopaedia Britannica

This prophecy was fulfilled when iron Rome ended Greek dominance on the earth allowing the iron kingdom to take its place in prophecy or now history.

Prophecy 5 - Iron mixed with clay

Daniel 2:41 “ And whereas thou sawest the feet and toespart of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.”

Because we can’t define what clay means here, is there another verse which defines clay? Jeremiah 18:6 “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.” Isaiah 64:8 “But now, O Lord, thou art our fatherwe are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” Since clay is defined as the people of God, we learn that Christians become the true people of God. So that means Rome will mix with Christianity. Did this happen?

“In 313 an edict of toleration for all religions was issued, and from about 320 Christianity was favoured by the Roman state rather than persecuted by it.” – Encyclopaedia Britannica

Prophecy 6 - Rome divided

Daniel 2:41 “And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be dividedbut there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.”

“The last of Constantine’s line, Theodosius I (379–395), was the last emperor to rule over a unified Roman Empire. The Western Empire, suffering from repeated invasions and the flight of the peasants into the cities, had grown weak compared with the East, where spices and other exports virtually guaranteed wealth and stability. When Theodosius died, in 395, Rome split into Eastern and Western empires”.    –     Encyclopaedia Britannica

As the roman empire was weakening, it first gets divided into two empires. The west and the east. The western half of the empire gets divided into ten empires. Remember though, the prophecy says there will still be in the kingdom the strength of the iron. The iron kingdom is never conquered, it merely changes but the strength of Rome remains until the day of Christ.

Prophecy 7 - The clay doesn't have it’s foundation in Christ.

Daniel 2:41 ”And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay”.

Psalm 40:2 “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings”. The rock represents Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ”. Hence this church will have their foundation on Satan because if you’re not for Christ, you’re against him. Matthew 12:30 “He that is not with me is against me [Jesus]; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.”

"The leader of the Catholic church is defined by the faith as the Vicar of Jesus Christ (and is accepted as such by believers). The Pope is considered the man on earth who takes the place of the Second Person of the omnipotent God of the Trinity." (John Paul II, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, p. 3, 1994).

"The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth." Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous".

The church which came into favour with Romans was in no way Christlike and their doctrines were not based on the foundation of the word or Christ.

Prophecy 8 – They will attempt to reunite the empire.

Daniel 2:43 ”And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry claythey shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.” The church and state will attempt to unite the empire again and again, however it will keep failing as state will not merge.

Louis himself was a strong believer that the Roman Catholic Church was an essential tool within France of maintaining control over the people. Louis wanted religious uniformity enforced. This was especially true in the second part of his reign when he became more and more influenced by Jesuits”.   - History Learnings

England, the Dutch, and the emperor united in the Grand Alliance to resist Louis’s expansionism”. – Encyclopaedia Britannica

Men like Charlemagne, Charles the Fifth, Louis XIV, Napoleon, William II, and Hitler have all attempted to unite the empire however as prophesied they have failed.

Future prophecy - Christ will establish his kingdom.

Daniel 2:44 “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure”.

Who is that rock that will become the final kingdom which shall last forever? 1 Corinthians 10:4 “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” When shall he do this? Notice it says “in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom”. In the time of the ten toes does Christ set up a kingdom? The ten toes parallel with the ten horns [kings] of Revelation 17:12-14 “And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings [ten toes], which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour [15 days] with the beast (The Vatican/papacy/pope). These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords”. The only time the Lamb (who is Christ) comes back is to defeat these ten kings. Notice the statue has ten toes! In the days of these kings in revelation 17 Christ will set up his kingdom.

Is there a plan for a one world government?

Adaptive Model of the Global World System
“The Club [of Rome] had its beginnings in April of 1968, when leaders from ten different countries gathered in Rome…The organization claims to have the solutions for world peace and prosperity...The Club of Rome has been charged with the task of overseeing the regionalization and unification of the entire world...

“The Club’s findings and recommendations are published from time to time in special, highly confidential reports, which are sent to the power-elite to be implemented. On 17 September 1973, the Club released one such report, entitled Regionalized and Adaptive Model of the Global World System. The document reveals that the Club has divided the world into ten political/ economic regions, which it refers to as ‘kingdoms.” – Summary of club of Rome report.

Further comments on the club of Rome source at the end of the study.

Has the pope been pushing for this new world order?

All popes have been pushing for this new world order.

It appears the Goal of the Pope is to establish a body which can enforce the United Nations goals: "More than ever, we need a new international order that draws on the experience and results achieved in these years by the United Nations" - Pope John Paul II

“Pope Francis made a strong new push for globalism on Thursday, calling for a supranational, legally constituted body to enforce United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and implement ‘climate change’ policies”.  – Lifesite

In conclusion, we are waiting for that Rock who will come and end the one world Government the pope is planning. The prophecy is clear that it is in the days of “these kings” that Christ shall establish his kingdom. Only a God with perfect foreknowledge can predict events with such accuracy in this manner. In another study of prophecy, see how God gives the same vision to Daniel in chapter 7, but with more detail in “the little horn”.

Comments

The source of the club of Rome report is from a man called William Cooper. In his book “behold a pale horse” he has a reference to the report “adaptive model of the global world system”. This can however currently only be found in his book “behold a pale horse”. In that book he uses pictures for many different topics, whilst we care not for his views, upon further investigation there is weight to the regionalisation plan for the world.  If you note the map where ten regions are made in his book, you’ll notice that the directors of the Club of Rome earlier released a report entitled “mankind at a turning point” in 1974. There the world was theorised into ten economic blocks in the report known as the “Mesarovic-Pestel World Model”  DTIC ADA093009 Page 2.

These Club of Rome received their blessing from the pope. In carrying forward their work because their goals align with the Pope regardless. However, the club of Rome was providing the intellectual backing for a Global world.

“A decade after sounding the alarm, the Club of Rome is still convinced that humanking is courting catastrophe by the way it abuses the world’s resources. Id anything, the club’s members believe things are worse than before. But there was no sign of giving up at their milestone meeting this summer. Rather, discreet encouragement from the late Pope Paul Vi…” – See article down below

“The urgency evident in the discussion grows out of the conviction of club leaders that the time is limited for change if disaster is to be averted. Like 10 years”. – Ibid
