Conclusion

Introduction

This study was originally designed with the goal of reaching unbelievers of all kinds, however professed Christians may also find this study very useful in order to strengthen their faith. Whilst it’s nice to see scientific principles in God’s word before they were discovered or known, I must make it clear, the greatest evidence God demonstrates is still prophecy. Isaiah 41:23 “Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together”. We would encourage the reader to look at the prophecies of the Bible after this study.

The Influence of the Holy Spirit

We believe that all scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit, 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”. When the Holy Spirit takes over a person, he can make them utter statements that sometimes at first even they don’t understand, for example when Daniel received a vision, he didn’t fully understand it, nor did the people around him Daniel 8:27 “And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it”. It wasn’t until some years later God allowed him to understand what he saw. Daniel 9:22 “And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding”. In other words, some of these principles written down could only have been known under the inspiration of the Holy SpiritHow much they would’ve understood their own writings straightaway would’ve varied from prophet to prophet and whether God sent an angel to explain it to them, in vision or out of vision.

The book of Job

You’ll notice a lot of the scientific facts in this study coming from the book of Job. We see that Job and a young man called Elihu were indeed very clever for their time. The Lord also talks directly to Job and in a very clever way. He humbles Job whilst purposely dispensing knowledge. Job said he would do this to God Job 23:3 “Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! 4 I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments” Let me give you an example, imagine you have a child, and your child starts to act too prideful, talking back and thinking they know better. You may ask them questions such as “Who pays the bills around here?” The answer is obviously you, the parent pays the bills, however what’s the subliminal message you’re trying to give the child? There are bills that need to be paid, without you they wouldn’t survive. The way the Lord asked Job certain questions was very amusing from the outside looking in. He doesn’t just ask the equivalent of “Who pays the bills around here?” The questions are more like “Who has to pay the bills around here, when you use £50 per month?” The message from this question would be “I pay the bills and your usage costs £50 per month”. Therefore, when the Lord starts talking about creation and questions Job on his non-contribution to creating the animals, sea, earth and the stars, he gives facts about his creation because he also knows future generations will read it later. The questions the Lord asks Job will be highlighted in this colour and bolded.

Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfectconverting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

Q: Where do all rivers go?

Ecclesiastes 1:7  “All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.”

Rivers eventually end up flowing into the ocean”. - USGS

Q: Was the water cycle in the Bible?

Evaporation: Psalm 135:7 “He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth…”

Water evaporates from the Earth's surface and rises on warm updrafts into the atmosphere”. - Nasa

"The air is full of water vapor, although most of the time we can't see it” - USGS

Condensation: Job 26:8 “He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them”.

“Condensation is the process by which water vapour in the air is changed into liquid water…Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because it is responsible for the formation of clouds…” - USGS

Precipitation: Job 36:27 “For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: 28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly”.

“The clouds floating overhead contain water vapor and cloud droplets, which are small drops of condensed water…Water droplets may grow as a result of additional condensation of water vapor when the particles collide. If enough collisions occur to produce a droplet with a fall velocity which exceeds the cloud updraft speed, then it will fall out of the cloud as precipitation”. - USGS

Q: Can seas be gathered as a heap?

Psalm 33:7 “He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses”.

Ancient storehouses in Israel would consist of stone structures to store food, hence this verse implies that the deep sea can be stored in pockets of water deep underground.

“The finding, published in Science, suggests that a reservoir of water is hidden in the Earth's mantle, more than 400 miles below the surface. Try to refrain from imagining expanses of underground seas: all this water, three times the volume of water on the surface, is trapped inside rocks”. - Smithsonian Science Education Centre

“Schmandt et al. combined seismological observations beneath North America with geodynamical modeling and high-pressure and -temperature melting experiments. They conclude that the mantle transition zone—410 to 660 km below Earth's surface—acts as a large reservoir of water.” - science.org

Q: Are there storehouses of snow on the earth?

Job 38:22 “Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?...”

Context: Job lived in Uz, which would be south east of modern day Israel. The Lord asks Job whether he has entered into the storehouses of snow. This would imply there are stores of snow on the earth somewhere.

“Probably the first to approach the Arctic regions was a Greek, Pytheas, who in the 4th century BCE made a voyage from the Mediterranean, around Britain, to a place he called Thule, variously identified as the Shetlands, Iceland, and Norway”. - Britannica

It occurs poleward of 65° N and S latitude over the ice caps of Greenland and Antarctica and over the permanently frozen portion of the Arctic Ocean”. - Britannica

Q: Are there creatures which live and die under the ocean?

Job 26:5 “Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof”

It was believed that life could not exist deep in the ocean. At 200 meters (650 feet) below, light scatters and fades. At 4,000 meters (13,000 feet), the temperature drops almost to freezing, and the pressure increases to one nearly unbearable for humans (2). No light means no plant life, which ultimately implies no animal life”. - dartmouth

“1818: Sir John Ross catches worms and jellyfish at a depth of approximately 2,000 meters (6,550 feet), offering the first evidence of deep sea life”. - thoughtco

Hydrothermal vent

Q: Are there springs in the sea?

Job 38:16 “Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?” (Note: depth means deep ocean/sea)

In 350 BC an ancient Greek writer Aristotle believed that: “The old writers who invented theogonies say that the sea has springs, for they want earth and sea to have foundations and roots of their own. Presumably they thought that this view was grander and more impressive as implying that our earth was an important part of the universe … We must now consider the facts which prove that the sea cannot possibly have springs. The waters we find on the earth either flow or are stationary” - Meteorology by Aristotle

“In 1977, scientists discovered hot springs at a depth of 2.5 km, on the Galapagos Rift (spreading ridge) off the coast of Ecuador. This exciting discovery was not really a surprise. Since the early 1970s, scientists had predicted that hot springs (geothermal vents) should be found at the active spreading centers along the mid-oceanic ridges, where magma, at temperatures over 1,000 °C, presumably was being erupted to form new oceanic crust. More exciting, because it was totally unexpected, was the discovery of abundant and unusual sea life giant tube worms, huge clams, and mussels that thrived around the hot springs”. - USGS

Proverbs 8:28 “When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep”

Q: Is the bottom of the ocean broken up?

Proverbs 3:20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

"Hydrothermal vents are naturally forming structures found in the ocean. They usually occur on divergent plate boundaries, where tectonic plates are moving apart. The vents expel a fluid that was heated to extreme temperatures when seeping through the Earth's crust from the ocean. Maggie explains, 'Hydrothermal vents are like hot springs on the seafloor. As tectonic plates of oceanic crust move apart, the crust is stretched, and in places it breaks, forming cracks and fissures within it". - Natural History Museum

"Such vents — where geothermally heated seawater spews from cracks in the seafloor back into the ocean — were theorized as a byproduct of plate tectonics. Given that plate tectonic theory itself had only gelled in the preceding couple of decades, geologists were eager to prove these vents existed. Earlier expeditions had documented warm-water anomalies, unusual rock and mineral deposits on the ocean floor, and other tantalizing evidence, all occurring near tectonically active areas as predicted. But no one had observed a vent up close" - earthmagazine

Q: Are there channels under the sea?

2 Samuel 22:16 “And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils”.

Many deep‐sea channels form the distal part of ocean‐margin sediment transport systems, being incised 100–350 m into ocean‐floor sediments, traversing great distances over the ocean‐basin floor, and generally terminating on an abyssal plain” - Earthdoc

The German meteor expedition created the first detailed survey of the south Atlantic ocean floor. The Route was mainly focused between South America and Africa. Here is a map of the expedition:

Q: Does the sea have paths?

Psalm 8:8 “The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas”.

“Ocean water is constantly moving, and not only in the form of waves and tides. Ocean currents flow like vast rivers, sweeping along predictable paths. Some ocean currents flow at the surface; others flow deep within water”. - National Geographic

Let’s add some history here, these paths of the sea were unknown. Matthew Fontaine Maury was first to post an ocean current chart in 1847. Matthew Fontaine Maury read psalms 8, then he went in search of “the paths of the sea” here is a quote from a biography authored by his son:

“At one time, when Commodore Maury was very sick, he asked one of his daughters to get the Bible and read to him. She chose Psalm 8, the eighth verse of which speaks of "whatsoever walketh through the paths of the sea," he repeated "the paths of the sea, the paths of the sea, if God says the paths of the sea, they are there, and if I ever get out of this bed I will find them”. - Work of Matthew Fontaine

From the United States Naval Institute proceedings (1927-1928)

Q: Do things use the “paths of the sea”?

Psalm 8:8 “The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas”.

Ocean currents have many profound impacts on marine life, moving not only animals and plants around the ocean but also redistributing heat and nutrients… Emerging from these initiatives is an understanding of how currents impact the connectivity of marine populations, how they influence the migration of strong swimmers, including whales and turtles, and how changing currents, as part of global climate change, may re-shape entire communities”. - ScienceDirect

Q: Are there water conduits in the deep ocean where sound travels along?

Psa 42:7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Note: Waterspouts was an old word for “drainpipe”. In the strong’s it’s translated as a water-conduit. This is not modern day waterspouts which are tornadoes on the sea (that understanding didn’t come about till 1700s).

So the verse is saying that the deep ocean calls out to the deep ocean due to the sound of God’s water conduits.

"At the height of World War II, scientists tested a theory that low-frequency sound could travel long distances in the deep ocean. They deployed a hydrophone from their research vessel, which was anchored off of Woods Hole, Massachusetts. Some 900 miles away, another ship lowered a four-pound explosive to a specific depth below the ocean surface. Once detonated, the explosion propelled pulses of sound that traveled the 900 hundred miles from one ship to the other. That’s nearly the distance from Washington, DC, to Des Moines, Iowa!

For the first time, researchers heard what they termed SOFAR, or a Sound Fixing And Ranging transmission. As the scientists noted, 'The end of the sound channel transmission was so sharp that it was impossible for the most unskilled observer to miss it.'" - NOAA

SOFAR, or Sound Fixing and Ranging Channel, is a naturally-occurring ocean 'channel' that allows sound to carry great distances.

Note: one must be in deep water for the SOFAR channel to work, if one goes too near the surface then the speed of sound is too fast, and the sound is either absorbed, scattered or spread. If one goes too deep a similar problem arises.

The spiritual application.

Many Christians take the spiritual lesson here, that one must have a deep relationship with God. However, I believe understanding the science behind this verse reveals the full image and message God has given to the psalmist.

The psalmist was troubled throughout this chapter, he’s longing for God. Psalm 42:2 “My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” He’s crying over not seeing God. He feels God is far. Psalm 42:3 “My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?”  The Psalmist tries to praise God in the congregation. Psalm 42:4 “When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday”. However, within him there’s still this noise, he doesn’t find the quiet peace he’s hoping for in God. So he attempts to find a more remote location where he believes his soul will be at peace. Psalm 42:5 "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted [making noise] in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar”.

However, God has given the psalmist a dream/vision where he plunges the psalmist deep under water (into the deep). The psalmist first happens to note that sound is travelling smoothly and clearly in the deep ocean (What we have discovered to be the SOFAR channel). Although the psalmist is covered in the waves, he’s not drowning, he says “all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.”, if these words do not convey the idea that the psalmist is underwater, then i know not of any words that do. So we conclude he has actually learned the water has allowed a clear communication path.

God uses this scientific phenomenon to show him, although God plunges him in trials, it has actually allowed him to focus and hear God’s voice clearly. The psalmist wasn’t aware before that long communication is possible in the deep water. He was going to search for his own place to hear the voice of God (the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar). God had a better idea in terms of plunging him into the deep. This is to teach the psalmist that through the trials you can actually hear the voice of God clearer. If you’re too close to the surface of the water, the same effect doesn’t work. If you go too deep (i.e. God were to give you a trial you can’t handle), the same effect doesn’t work. God needs to plunge us deep enough where it’s not to the surface but not too deep and then he can communicate to us clearly. That’s why God is commanding his lovingkindness to the psalmist in the next verse, in this vision he’s hearing all this whilst being in the waters.

Psa 42:8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

Whilst the waves have covered the psalmist, he can hear the voice of God clearly, as the water has allowed the voice of God to travel without interruption. On land the same effect does not occur. In the SOFAR channel, a whale sound can travel 10km to 20km, depending on the conditions. In air it would dissipate long before the 10km mark. So then in this dream/vision the psalmist cries out to God and tells him all his complaints “Psa 42:9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? Psa 42:10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?” Whilst underwater he’s talking to God and complaining about what is troubling him. In the midst of all this he catches himself and questions himself and says Psa 42:11 “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?  and why art thou disquieted within me?…” Essentially as he’s complaining he says “wait… what’s wrong with me”. He tells himself to “hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God”. By now he begins to become aware to the reality that whilst he’s underwater crying out to God he has not drowned. He realises this by verse 11 and essentially comes to his senses and says, I should relax and trust in God, because the same one who is keeping him alive under the water can preserve him though his troubles.

Q: Was there a point in time where water was higher than the mountains?

Psalm 104:5 “Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.”

“This month, a researcher at Harvard University published new evidence that Earth itself was once a water world, with its own global ocean and very little, if any, visible land. Planetary scientist Junjie Dong at Harvard is lead author on the new paper, which focuses on the amount of water present in Earth’s mantle, the layer of rock between our planet’s crust and core. These results were published on March 9, 2021, in the peer-reviewed journal AGU Advances”. - Earthsky

“…the planet's oceans held nearly twice as much water—enough to submerge today's continents above the peak of Mount Everest”. - science.org

Q: Did God break the necks of dragons in the flood?

Psalm 78:13 Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.

The Dinosaur Death Pose | Genesis Park

"While no one knows for certain how dinosaur bones ended up in this position, the answer may lie with that liquid resource coming out of your tap. Many believe that large flooding swept up the dinosaurs, causing their deaths. In the throes of drowning, they end up in this unique pose that’s typically associated with brain damage and asphyxiation".  -canadiangeographic

"To support this theory, scientists in Utah submerged chickens in freshwater and found they arched their necks and threw back their heads within seconds of going in the water. Other scientists submerged birds in saltwater and saw no movement of the head or neck".

Example of chicken bending neck backwards in water.

Q: What is the shape of the Earth?

Isaiah 40:22 “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers…”

The word “circle” translates as sphere according to Gesenius’ Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon.

This same word is used to describe the sky, Job 22:14 “…he walketh in the circuit [circle/sphere] of heaven”. The same word is also used to describe the sea Proverbs 8:27 “…he set a compass [circle/sphere] upon the face of the depth

The only way for the sky, water and earth to have the same “circular” shape is for them to be shaped in what we would call a globe.

The question may arise, “Why wasn’t the word sphere used in the King James?”

The word circle in the past could be used in place of a sphere or an orb. This held through to the 18th century where in Samuel Johnson’s “A dictionary of the English Language”, the 3rd definition of the word “circle” is “a round body; an orb”.

Even Wycliffe in the late 14th century had an alternative translation where he called the earth round “It is he who sitteth above, or over, the roundness of the earth…” (Isaiah 40:22 Wycliffe Bible)

Q: Is there a circle on the waters which marks the end of day and night?

Job 26:10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

Note: Compassed = to draw a circle

Essentially the verse is saying. He has drawn a circle on the waters and it's where day and night end.

Q: Does the earth rotate?

Job 38:12-14 “Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days… That it might take hold of the ends of the earth… It is turned as clay to the seal…”

I want to first make clear that the infinitive (base form of the verb) “to turn” in the Hebrew is in the reflexive tense. This is the “Hithpael” stem, as previously mentioned. This means that the turning here is done by the object itself, the sentence should be understood as “it turns itself as clay to the seal”.

The Lord is using a concept Job would understand to explain how the earth “rotates itself”. In the east a common practice of making seal impressions or creating art, would be to roll a clay on a seal or the art itself. This is depicted by the diagram below.

“In ancient Mesopotamia, a cylinder-shaped seal could be rolled on a variety of objects made of clay… Many cylinder seals have survived because they were made of durable materials, particularly stone, but also metal and fired clay”. - metmuseum

The rotation of the earth was proved through the Foucault pendulum. “The Foucault Pendulum is named for the French physicist Jean Foucault (pronounced "Foo-koh), who first used it in 1851 to demonstrate the rotation of the earth. It was the first satisfactory demonstration of the earth's rotation using laboratory apparatus rather than astronomical observations”. - Smithsonian

A quick point to add, these clay rollers are perfect examples because they can only roll whilst moving. They don’t roll whilst staying in the same place. As we know the earth rotates whilst in motion.

Q: Can water go uphill?

Psalm 104:6 “…the waters stood above the mountains. 7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. 8 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.”

“As already noted, groundwater does not flow in straight lines. It flows from areas of higher hydraulic head to areas of lower hydraulic head, and this means that it can flow “uphill” in many situations”. - opentext

Q: Is there ice in the sky?

Job 38:29 “Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?”

Ice clouds form in the summer high latitude mesopause region, which is the coldest part of the Earth's atmosphere. At these very low temperatures (<150 K) ice can exist in metastable forms, but the nature of these ices remains poorly understood”. -Sciencedirect

Here the word frost is used, to imply that the sky can contain ice. To make it clear this is not hail, hail was already mentioned earlier in the same chapter Job 38:22 “…or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail…

Q: Does water erode rock?

Job 14:18-19 “And surely the mountains falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his placeThe waters wear the stones…”.

“erosion, removal of surface material from Earth’s crust, primarily soil and rock debris, and the transportation of the eroded materials by natural agencies (such as water or wind) from the point of removal”. - Britannica

Q: Does the moon affect our seasons?

Psalm 104:19 “He appointed the moon for seasons…”

The moon also affects the seasons and temperature though the gravitational pull on the equatorial plane, North Pole and South Pole, and the rate of Earth's spin”. - Sciencing

Meteorology

Q: Does wind travel in circuits? Are there multiple?

Ecclesiastes 1:6 “The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the northit whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.”

The diagram above shows the global wind belt. In short, the different wind cells all consist of wind whirling around in circuits going from south to north, then back southwards.

Q: Can sunlight affect wind patterns?

Job 38:24 “By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?”

Just about every wind on Earth can be traced in cause back to the Sun. As the Sun unevenly heats the surface of the Earth, air rises and sinks, resulting in high and low regions of air pressure. As air rises, the pressure lowers and surrounding air moves in to replace it, causing wind”. - Sciencing

“ Hadley cell, model of the Earth’s atmospheric circulation that was proposed by George Hadley (1735). It consists of a single wind system in each hemisphere, with westward [east wind] and equatorward flow near the surface and eastward and poleward flow at higher altitudes. The tropical regions receive more heat from solar radiation...”. - Britannica

Q: Do clouds have weight?

Job 37:16 “Dost thou know the balancings [weight] of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?”

“A 1 cubic kilometer (km3) cloud contains 1 billion cubic meters. Doing the math: 1,000,000,000 x 0.5 = 500,000,000 grams of water droplets in our cloud. That is about 500,000 kilograms or 1.1 million pounds (about 551 tons). But, that "heavy" cloud is floating over your head because the air below it is even heavier— the lesser density of the cloud allows it to float on the dryer and more-dense air”. - usgs

Q: Can sound cause rain?

Job 38:34 “ Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?”

“In a weather manipulation experiment conducted on the Tibetan Plateau last year, the researchers said they recorded increases in rainfall of up to 17 per cent by pointing a giant loudspeaker at the sky. ‘The total annual atmospheric water vapour resource in China is about 20 trillion tonnes. [But] only 20 per cent forms natural precipitation that reaches the ground, and the precipitation conversion rate in western regions is even smaller,’ said the team led by Professor Wang Guangqian from the university’s State Key Laboratory of Hydro-science and Engineering”. - SCMP

Acoustic interference of atmosphere has been an attractive research area because of its potential effect on environment, water resources, ecology, agriculture, and other areas. However, it is also a controversial topic because of the difficulty of quantitative assessment and high operating costs. In this study, a novel acoustic interference technology is proposed that uses strong low-frequency sound waves”. - Springer

Q: Does it rain in deserts?

Job 38:25-26 “Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters?… To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man.”

The low rainfall amounts deserts experience come from a combination of climate and geography. Most deserts occur between 15 and 35 degrees of latitude, in an area where air circulating out of the equatorial zone descends, warms and absorbs moisture from the land beneath. Many deserts also exist in rain shadows, where a high mountain range to the windward side draws moisture out of weather systems before they reach the leeward side” - sciencing

The level of rainfall is so low in the desert, that it would have been very hard to observe this phenomenon in ancient times. Job lived in Uz, long story short he wasn’t in a desert. Some people even till today aren’t aware deserts can receive a little rainfall.

Q: Does the atmosphere act like a “window”?

Genesis 8:2 “…the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.”

“Think of the atmospheric window as a curtain with holes. And specific multispectral and hyperspectral bands can freely pass. The curtain (atmospheric window) blocks specific wavelengths like gamma rays. But in reality, the curtain is the water vapor, ozone, carbon dioxide, and molecules in the atmosphere. These blocked wavelengths are known as “‘absorption bands’”. - GisGeography

Q: Can these “windows of heaven” be opened by rain?

Genesis 7:11-12 “…the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.”

Malachi 3:10 “…prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing…”

Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech

When we want to cool our rooms, we open a window. The atmosphere contains clouds. Clouds trap some heat that bounces off the surface of the earth and back into space. So the clouds act as a “closing” of the window. Therefore, one can “open” the window via rain.

“The windows are themselves dependent upon clouds, water vapor, trace greenhouse gases, and other components of the atmosphere. - Wiki

Additional information

I have noticed some people read a phrase such as “windows of heaven” and assume that the Bible is insinuating that people imagined that God opened physical windows in the sky. Firstly, the Bible clearly shows that rain comes from clouds. Job 37:11 “Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud…” When people do this it’s the equivalent of someone in the future reading about us using the phrase “the sun went down” and concluding that we believed in a geocentric model of the solar system (Sun revolving around the earth). It would show they’ve possibly ignored or are ignorant of all other statements we have made regarding the sun.

Q: Does rain have a father?

Job 38:28 “Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?”

The believer may say “yes, God”, the unbeliever may say “of course not”, both missing the point of the question. What is the purpose of a father? He provides seed which leads to a fertilised egg and the baby is created. Job is already aware how rain occurs Job 26:8 “He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them” So why is the Lord asking Job if rain has a father? The Lord wants Job to think about the process more, does rain need two properties to be “birthed”? Indeed it does. Water vapour alone will not cause rain. Water vapour condenses into clouds, but for water vapour to condense into clouds it requires condensation nuclei.

What are the sizes of these condensation nuclei?

condensation nucleus, tiny suspended particle, either solid or liquid, upon which water vapour condensation begins in the atmosphere. Its diameter may range from a few microns to a few tenths of a micron (one micron equals 10-4 centimetre) [0.0001 cm]”. - Britannica

What is the size of a sperm cell?

“Well, sperm cells are actually really tiny. In fact, they are some of the smallest cells in the human body, and measure just 0.005cm”. – Natural Cycles

The understanding of condensation nuclei has led to cloud seeding. “Cloud seeding is a weather modification technique that improves a cloud’s ability to produce rain or snow by introducing tiny ice nuclei into certain types of subfreezing clouds. These nuclei provide a base for snowflakes to form. After cloud seeding takes place, the newly formed snowflakes quickly grow and fall from the clouds back to the surface of the Earth, increasing snowpack and streamflow”.  - DRI

Proverbs 8:26 “While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world”.

Dew on the other hand, is a form of condensation that occurs when water vapour in the air cools and turns into liquid droplets. “When the moisture is deposited in the form of water droplets on cooler surfaces of solid objects (rather than nuclei in air above the surface) such as stones, grass blades and plant leaves, it is known as dew”. - pmfias

Q: Does wind have weight?

Job 28:25 “To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.”

The air around you has weight, and it presses against everything it touches. That pressure is called atmospheric pressure, or air pressure. It is the force exerted on a surface by the air above it as gravity pulls it to Earth.” - National Geographic

Q: Does cold air come from the north?

Job 37:9  “Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.”

“The combination of fresh Arctic cold air under the lobe of the Polar Vortex against the warmer and moist air from the south leads to dangerous winter storm formation”. - Severe Weather Europe

Q: Does wind cleanse the clouds? If so, how?

Job 37:21 “And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.”

A few points to note on this verse, the word “men” here is added and doesn’t help understanding. Elihu is asking Job some questions and this last question should read as “And now see not the bright light which is in the clouds? but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them”. The word “light” is also translated earlier in the chapter as lightning.

“Mature Phase. As the top of the cloud reaches great heights, precipitation begins to fall. The falling rain, snow and/or ice (Hail) cools the surrounding air creating downdrafts. The friction between ice particles descending through the cloud, and ice particles being carried aloft by the updrafts, creates a static charge in the cloud with the top of the cloud having a positive charge and the bottom of the cloud having a negative charge. Eventually the difference in potential is so great that powerful electrical discharges (Lightning) occur, accompanied by Thunder. The top of the cloud begins to flatten out and Cirrus like cloud, consisting of ice crystals, spreads out creating a distinctive anvil shape.

Dissipation Phase. The cooling effect of the downdrafts on the air beneath the cloud reduces the strength of the updrafts until the updrafts eventually stop and the lower cloud begins to dissipate. The upper cloud will then linger for some time afterwards”. -skybaro

Q: Is ice formed in the same way a stone is formed?

Job 38:30 “The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.”

Note: The word “with” is added probably because the translators in the 17th century didn’t understand how water can be “hid as a stone”, the tense used for the verb “to hide” is also in the Hithpael stem, in the reflexive form it means "to draw together". So this verse would best be understood as:

Job 38:30 “The waters draw together as a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.”

“Crystallisation is the formation of a solid due to the build up crystals from a homogeneous solution… An example of crystallisation is water freezing to form ice or snow.  When atoms come together in a highly ordered repeating arrangement they form a crystal. Crystals can also form as a result of precipitation from water… Granite has large crystals”. - Stonemania

Q: Was the earth divided?

Genesis 10:25 “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.”

1 Chronicles 1:19 “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother's name was Joktan.”

Pangea, also spelled Pangaea, in early geologic time, a supercontinent that incorporated almost all the landmasses on Earth”.  – Britannica

Q: Do mountains have roots?

Job 28:9 “He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots”.

Yes, high mountains have deep roots. It has been understood that the higher the mountain is, the higher the force it will require. This is why the high and tall mountains have deeper and more intense roots”. - EarthEclipse

Q: Does the earth have fire under it, which turns inside?

Job 28:5 “As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.”

Mantle convection describes the movement of the mantle as it transfers heat from the white-hot core to the brittle lithosphere. The mantle is heated from below, cooled from above, and its overall temperature decreases over long periods of time. All these elements contribute to mantle convection. Convection currents transfer hot, buoyant magma to the lithosphere at plate boundaries and hot spots. Convection currents also transfer denser, cooler material from the crust to Earth’s interior through the process of subduction.” - National Geographic

The barrier between crust and mantle was discovered by Andrija Mohorovičić. “In 1909, Andrija Mohorovičić, a Croatian seismologist, discovered the boundary between the crust and the mantle by observing the sudden increase of seismic waves as they passed from the crust to the mantle”. - Earth 520

Then “It was [Arthur] Holmes, in 1919, who suggested the mechanism: that the continents are carried by flow of the mantle on which they sit, and that the mantle is flowing because it is convecting.” - American Museum of Natural History

Although it was the early 20th century where fire under the earth was proven, this Bible verse had already brought the idea to mind. John Wesley (1703-1791) in his commentary, some nearly two hundred years before the discovery, on Job 28:5 stated “Fire — Coals, and brimstone, and other materials of fire. Unless this refer, as some suppose, to a central fire”. The reason he had to consider the idea of a central fire in the earth, is because coals, brimstone already have their direct words in the Bible. If it was coals or brimstone, the Bible would have just mentioned it as such:

Proverbs 6:28 “Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?”

Job 18:15 “It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.”

Q: Does the sea have a bound which stops it from covering the earth?

Psalm 104:6,9 “… the waters stood above the mountains. 9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.”

Jeremiah 5:22 “Fear ye not me? saith the Lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it”?

Q: Can plants “smell”?

Job 14:7  “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.”

"Plants don't need noses to smell. The ability is in their genes. Researchers at the University of Tokyo have discovered the first steps of how information from odor molecules changes gene expression in plants. Manipulating plants' odor detection systems may lead to new ways of influencing plant behavior…. Humans have about 400 odor receptors. Elephants have about 2,000, the largest number in animals. But based on how many transcription factor genes are in plants, plants may be able to detect many more odors than animals," said Touhara”. - Science daily

Q: Can plants grow in the desert?

Job 38:25-27 “ Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters… To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?”

The desert is a difficult place to be a plant because of the dry, hot air. To move nutrients up their roots, plants evaporate water from their leaves in a process called transpiration. But in the desert, where water is hard to come by, many plants have adaptations to help save water”. – askabiologist

Q: Can sound travel via lightning?

Job 38:35 “Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?”

Another word for lightning used today is electricity. According to etymology online, the word electricity was first used by Sir Thomas Browne after the King James Bible had already been translated. “electromechanical transducer, any type of device that either converts an electrical signal into sound waves (as in a loudspeaker) or converts a sound wave into an electrical signal (as in the microphone)”. - Britannica

Q: Is the north of the earth attached to anything? Is the earth hung upon anything?

Job 26:7  “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.”

Space is an almost perfect vacuum, nearly void of matter and with extremely low pressure. In space, sound doesn't carry because there aren't molecules close enough together to transmit sound between them. Not quite empty, bits of gas, dust and other matter floats around ‘emptier’ areas of the universe, while more crowded regions can host planets, stars and galaxies”. - space.com

It is well understood today that earth is in space and above the north of the earth is also space.

Q: Do the stars of the Pleiades influence each other? And are there bands in Orion?

Context: the Pleiades is a star system, whilst Orion is a constellation.

Job 38:31 “Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?”

The words “sweet influences” translate from the word “bonds”. Bands translate as “cords” So it’s interesting that the Lord is asking here “Can you bind the bonds of the pleiades, or loose the cords of Orion”.

The stars of the Pleiades are gravitationally bound. As such, they move through space as a cohesive group, at roughly the same speed and in roughly the same direction, so their relative positions remain stable. The effect is like multiple lanes of traffic all moving together at the speed limit. But the Pleiades is an open cluster, and the stars will likely drift apart in the future”. -EarthSky

The Orion Constellation contains a lot of OB associations (O type stars clustered with B type stars). The diagram below shows some of these OB associations in Orion.

“The stars in stellar associations are grouped together much more loosely than they are in star clusters of the open and globular types. A star cluster’s members are bound together by gravity into a relatively tight configuration…Stellar associations are generally classified into three types on the basis of their most prominent components: OB, R, and T associations”. - Britannica

Hence Orion has many “bands” within it.

Q: Is Arcturus moving?

Job 38:32  “…canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?”

“The English astronomer Edmond Halley, in 1718, was the first to detect proper motionsthose of Arcturus and Sirius”. - Britannica

In a series of papers spanning several decades (1959-1994), Olin Eggen has introduced the concept of moving groups of stars”. - harvard.edu

Arcturus and a group of 52 other old disk stars share a common proper motionThe group is known as the Arcturus moving group. These stars don’t travel with the group of stars in the Milky Way’s disk. Instead, they are cutting perpendicularly across the disk. They are moving at a greater speed and at a different angle than other stars in the Milky Way Galaxy”. - Constellation Guide

Q: Can the amount of stars be counted?

“Look up at the sky on a clear night, and you’ll see thousands of stars – about 6,000 or so.

But that’s only a tiny fraction of all the stars out there. The rest are too far away for us to see them”. - bigthink

Jeremiah 33:22 “As the host [stars] of heaven cannot be numbered…”

“host” is another word for “stars” in the Bible. Both words are used. Deut 4:19 “And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven…”

“It’s impossible to know how many stars exist, but astronomers estimate that in our Milky Way galaxy alone, there are about 300 billion”. – National Geographic

Q: Does an increase in sunlight affect the moonlight?

“The moon shines because its surface reflects light from the sun”. - live science

There’s a concept called “albedo”. If an object has an albedo of 0 all the light is absorbed by that object. If an object has an albedo of 1, all the light is reflected off that object. We will use percentages to simplify the explanation. 0 = 0%, 1 = 100%.

The equation for albedo:

According to satellite data, the albedo of the moon can be as reflective as 13.2% or 14%, this is measured using CERES (The Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System).  “The average broadband Moon albedo is measured by CERES at a value of 0.1362 (±2–3%) [0.1403-0.1321]” - Opticxa

“Broadband albedo represents the fraction of total solar radiation that is reflected by the surface”. -hawaii

See if you can solve this question:

The sun emits 100 (Y) points of energy. The moon reflects 13.62% of the points it receives. By how much (X) do we need to multiply the points of the sun, so that the points of the moon equals 100?

7.3

Isaiah 30:26 “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold…”

For clarity, temperature is not luminosity. If you increase luminosity by seven, we can calculate (assuming all other things being equal) the surface temperature of the Sun. This verse is a prophecy of how light the sun will be in the time of the new earth. However, the temperature increase  (assuming constant radius) will not harm anyone according to the Bible. Isaiah 49:10 “They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them…” So the design of the earth will be set up in such a way that even though the surface temperature of the sun may go up, or the sun may get bigger (we don’t know how), it won’t harm anyone.

Isaiah goes further with this verse: Isaiah 30:26 “Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound”. What’s amazing here as well is that Isaiah says the light of a sun that’s seven times more luminous gives the same output in one day as our current sun would give across seven. We know the sun outputs 3.828 × 1026 watts. The sun becoming seven times more luminous would output 2.680 × 1027 watts.

Energy output for seven days with current luminosity:

Energy output for one day with luminosity seven:

Extra reading: Currently In astrophysics, researchers are looking for earth-like planets within a “goldilocks” zone. This is the zone where a planet remains the right distance from the sun for water to remain liquid. It’s also believed to be the zone a planet must reside in to be habitable. Essentially, the researchers have taken the earth as a template for other solar systems and are trying to find exoplanets (planets outside our solar system) like earth. However, what a verse like this would show is that these assumptions may not always hold. That’s because if God can make the sun seven times lighter and yet we are not harmed, it means planets in other solar systems with life can be closer to the sun or further. Our current solar system wouldn’t be a template that could be applied for every case. The question which may therefore arise is “how will God make it possible that the sun doesn’t harm us”? we don’t know. He could create a special atmosphere, or he could do it purely by miracles, or as we will have bodies like Christ it simply won’t harm us, we can only speculate but one thing is for sure, Jesus will be our king. When Jesus comes back his brightness will destroy all the wicked, but the righteous will be unharmed. It’s the same brightness. The reader may also wonder “is there more life?” We answer this further down in the study.

Q: Is there a “darkness” with a boundary?

Job 38:19 “Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, 20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?”

Essentially God is asking Job, where does light dwell/pause/rest and at the same time where is the place of darkness, that Job should take the light to the boundary of the darkness and use it to know where the darkness is located. It should be noted that light either reflects, refracts or is absorbed so it’s very interesting that the Lord is implying there’s a place where light dwells and it has to do with this darkness. It is also interesting that the Lord says this darkness has a boundary and a location. He makes it clear this darkness has a location by using the words “place” and “house”. Hence the question becomes “what is dark, has a boundary, a location and is associated with the dwelling of light?”

Black holes are some of the strangest and most fascinating objects in space. They're extremely dense, with such strong gravitational attraction that not even light can escape their grasp… The event horizon of a black hole is the boundary around the mouth of the black hole, past which light cannot escape. Once a particle crosses the event horizon, it cannot leave. Gravity is constant across the event horizon”. – space.com

This is truly astounding, but the reader may think “what if the Lord isn’t being literal? And this darkness is metaphorical”. Verse 21 utterly dismantles the notion of the Lord talking about metaphorical darkness. Job 38:19 “Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, 20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof? 21 Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?” the Lord asks Job “Do you know the answer because you were born then?” This is clearly something to do with creation, which occurred long before Job was even born. This cannot be some metaphorical darkness, because Job could just answer “the darkness is all around me on planet earth”. It can’t be speaking of death because that was already discussed earlier in the chapter (which we will look at later).

All in all, the question becomes “What is dark, has a boundary, a location and light resting there and was there before the planet was made?”

Q: Is there ice in space?

Job 38:22 “…hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, 23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?”

The word “treasures” once again can mean a storehouse. This implies there is a hidden supply of ice which has existed from the time of Job. The Lord says he has reserved that ice until the day of battle and war. When is this day of battle and war?

Revelation 16:14 “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty”. This day is known as armageddon. In what’s called the seventh plague, everyone who rejects Jesus and willingly chooses Satan will be completely controlled by Satan. Due to how Satan will manipulate the world against real Christians, Jesus will wipe out those who will choose Satan by great hailstones.

Revelation 16:21 “And there fell upon men a great hail out of heavenevery stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great”. The ice here is described as hail because from the perspective of the one planet earth it would appear as huge chunks of ice falling from the sky.

How heavy is a talent?

At the time of John (~90 AD) a talent in weight was roughly 60kg. “A heavy talent = 60,600 gramsThe common heavy talent and its subdivisions were the weights current in Syria and Palestine, as Josephus expressly states (‘Ant.’ xiv. 106, ed. Niese)”. - Jewishencyclopedia

Kuiper belt, also called Edgeworth-Kuiper beltflat ring of icy small bodies that revolve around the Sun beyond the orbit of the planet Neptune. It was named for the Dutch American astronomer Gerard P. Kuiper and comprises hundreds of millions of objects…” - Britannica

“The Kuiper Belt is a large region in the cold, outer reaches of our solar system beyond the orbit of Neptune. It's sometimes called the "third zone" of the solar system. Astronomers think there are millions of smallicy objects in this region – including hundreds of thousands that are larger than 60 miles (100 kilometers) wide. Some of the objects, including Pluto, are over 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) wide”. - Nasa

Q: Are there multiple planets?

Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”.

In 1992, astronomers discovered the first exoplanet, or planet outside our solar system. But it didn’t come in any form they’d really anticipated”. -Astronomy

Q: Did God create more beings on other worlds?

Note: If you are Christian reading this page and you’ve been taught the sons of God in Genesis 6:4 refer to angels having relations with humans, this is false, please read this page: Are we alone. If not, carry on.

Beings created in God’s image and who obey God are known as the sons of God. Not to be confused with the title “The Son of God”. Romans 8:14 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God”.

Angels are symbolized as “stars”. Revelation 1:20 “…The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches…”

What day did God lay the foundation of the earth?

Genesis 1:1,5 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. ”.

1

What day were Adam and Eve created?

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

6

What day were the morning stars (symbolized as angels) singing?

Job 38:4 “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding… 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; 7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

1

What day did the sons of God shout for joy?

1

If the sons of God are shouting for joy when the foundation of the earth is being laid, then that means God had other beings before Adam and Eve were created, just not on this earth. The sons of God existed on day one but Adam and Eve don’t exist until day six. Everyone on this planet is a child of Eve.

Genesis 3:20 “And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living”.

Whilst human beings are a distinct race of the sons of God, essentially all throughout the universe on their own planets exist beings created in God’s image. That is they have a head, torso, legs, arms etc. See this study to learn “the image of God”. Just to be clear they can still look very different from us. A tiger is a cat, a lion is a cat and a cheater is a cat. Whilst they have the same base image, each one still looks very different from the other. Furthermore, we look nothing like what we were supposed to look like, if Adam was alive today, in his prime, everyone would be weak and degenerate compared to him.

Q: Can darkness be felt or cause pain?

Exodus 10:21 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt”.

“The symptoms with nyctophobia are very similar to any other phobia. Because phobias are an anxiety disorder, these individuals experience extreme fear that causes distress when they're in the dark. Symptoms may interfere with daily activities and school or work performance. They could even lead to health issues. Physical symptoms include the activation of the fight or flight response, and include trouble breathing, racing heart, chest tightness, shaking, lightheadedness, upset stomach, or sweating. Emotional symptoms include feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or panic, an intense need to escape the situation, and a detachment from self or feeling unreal”. - ancsleep

Soon this darkness will be felt again on the whole world, for those who choose Satan over Jesus.

Revelation 16:10 “…his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain”.

Q: Can stress affect eyesight?

Job 17:7 “Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members are as a shadow.”

The word used for sorrow is a sorrow of anger or vexation.

“After analyzing hundreds of studies and clinical trials, Prof. Sabel and his colleagues conclude that stress is not only a consequence of vision loss, but that it may also aggravate eye conditions. As he explains, ‘There is clear evidence of a psychosomatic component to vision loss, as stress is an important cause — not just a consequence — of progressive vision loss resulting from diseases such as glaucoma, optic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.’ Some of the studies reviewed in the new research even show that reducing stress can help to restore vision”. - Medicalnewstoday

“In fact, continuous stress and elevated cortisol levels negatively impact the eye and brain due to autonomous nervous system (sympathetic) imbalance and vascular dysregulation; hence stress may also be one of the major causes of visual system diseases such as glaucoma and optic neuropathy” – National Library of Medicine

Q: Can happiness benefit your health?

Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

“The present findings suggest that being happy and becoming happier across time were independently associated with better physical health in the U.S. and Japan”. - Pubmed central

“Happier people are healthier, but does becoming happier lead to better health?…In a subsample of 100 participants, we also found evidence that improvements in subjective well-being over the course of the program predicted subsequent decreases in the number of sick days”. - National Library of Medicine

Q: Can a depressed mind affect your bones?

Proverbs 17:22  “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”

“Two meta-analyses have demonstrated that depression is associated with decreased bone mineral density (BMD) and increased fracture risk”. – National Library of Medicine

Q: Can stress cause appetite loss and thinning skin?

Psalm 102:4 “My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. 5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.”

“Generally, acute stress results in decreased eating whereas chronic stress results in increased eating” - Cureus

“In fact, a study in the January 2001 issue of the Archives of Dermatology entitled “Psychological Stress Perturbs Epidermal Permeability Barrier Homeostasis,” found that stress has a negative effect on the barrier function of the skinresulting in water loss that inhibits the skin’s ability to repair itself after an injury … This study was the first of its kind to suggest what dermatologists anecdotally have known for years – that psychological stress adversely affects the normal functions of the skin”. - Sciencedaily

Q: What was the original diet given to humans? Why was it given?

What: Genesis 1:29  “And God said, Behold, I have given you [humans] every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

Why: “Diet also plays a big role in gene expression. In another study, researchers looked at the role of diet on gene expression. In this study, they compared gene expression across two groups – those eating what they referred to as a ‘prudent’ diet and those eating a more typically ‘Western’ diet. The prudent group consumed more vegetables, fruits and whole grains, while the latter consumed more sugars, refined grains and processed meats. The result? Over 2,000 transcripts were different between those at either end of the spectrum. In other words, what you eat massively impacts on the way your DNA behaves and what it does to your body”. - Health guidance

Q: Is the life of flesh contained in blood?

Leviticus 17:11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood…”

Whilst there’s a clear symbolic aspect to this verse which is the predominant message there’s still a practical message here. “The blood circulatory system (cardiovascular system) delivers nutrients and oxygen to all cells in the body. It consists of the heart and the blood vessels running through the entire body. The arteries carry blood away from the heart; the veins carry it back to the heart”. - National Library of Medicine

God told the Israelites not to eat the blood of the animal.

“How do germs spread between animals and people?... Direct contact: Coming into contact with the saliva, blood, urine, mucous, feces, or other body fluids of an infected animal. Examples include petting or touching animals, and bites or scratches”. - CDC

Leviticus 17:10-11 “And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood: AND I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul”.

So God told the Israelites not to eat blood but then he says “AND”, adding the spiritual reason. Now some may say, but it must only be a symbolic reason why he gave them that command, it’s not like God thinks blood in general isn’t good for humans. This would be contradicted by the fact that after Jesus rose and ascended the Christians were to continue not eating blood.

Act 15:20 “But that we write unto them, that they [gentile christians] abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood”.

It must also be stressed that before the israelites even exist, God bars all of mankind from eating the blood of the animal by speaking to our great, great ... great Grandad Noah.

Gen 9:4 “But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat”.

Q: Can figs aid in skin treatment?

Isaiah 38:21 “For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaister upon the boil, and he shall recover”.

“This study was aimed to investigate the effects of cream containing Ficus carica L. fruit (Figs) extract on various skin parameters such as skin melanin, erythema, moisture content, trans-epidermal water loss and sebum… This study was aimed to investigate the effects of cream containing Ficus carica L. fruit (Fig) extract on various skin parameters such as skin melanin, erythema, moisture content, trans-epidermal water loss and sebum…We concluded that a stable topical cream (w/o emulsion) containing F. carica fruit extract have effects on skin melanin, trans-epidermal loss, hydration values and sebum content and possibly could be used against for hyper pigmentation, acne, freckles and wrinkle”. - National Library of Medicine

Note: Topical treatments can’t just be applied in isolation of a biblical diet.

Q: Can grapes improve gut health?

1 Timothy 5:23 “Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.”

“A new clinical study published in the scientific journal Nutrients found that consuming grapes significantly increased the diversity of bacteria in the gut which is considered essential to good health overall.  Additionally, consuming grapes significantly decreased cholesterol levels, as well as bile acids which play an integral role in cholesterol metabolism.  The findings suggest a promising new role for grapes in gut health and reinforce the benefits of grapes on heart health”. - Eurekalert

Note: unfermented grapejuice was also called wine in the Bible. Here Paul is not saying to drink fermented grapejuice (alcoholic wine) -see this study for more information.

Q: Should infectious diseases be quarantined?

Organized institutional responses to disease control began during the plague epidemic of 1347–1352. The plague was initially spread by sailors, rats, and cargo arriving in Sicily from the eastern Mediterranean… Medicine was impotent against plague; the only way to escape infection was to avoid contact with infected persons and contaminated objects”. - National Library of Medicine

Leviticus 13:45-46 “And the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without [outside] the camp shall his habitation be”.

Q: Does heat kill leprosy?

Leviticus 13:57 “…if it appear still in the garment, either in the warp, or in the woof, or in any thing of skin; it is a spreading plague: thou shalt burn that wherein the plague is with fire”.

“In human macrophages, M. leprae retained its viability when cultured at 35 degrees C for at least 4 weeks without IL-10. However, the viability of M. leprae was almost lost within 2 weeks if cultured at 37 degrees C. These data suggest that temperature is a crucial factor for the survival of M. leprae in host cells”. - National Library of Medicine

Note: heat/fire doesn’t always kill bacteria. “Scientists have found microbes living in the charred soil that wildfires leave behind. They don’t know how some fungi and bacteria manage to thrive when everything else has died, but a new project aims to change that”. -UCR.Edu

Q: What happens when you die?

Job 38:17 “Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?”

The phrase “shadow of death” translates from one word which literally means a deep-darkness. The Lord is making it clear, when you die, it’s lights out. Now someone may wonder, don’t we go to heaven or hell? There is a new earth to be made, but it’s not immediately when you die. Christians are resurrected when Jesus returns, till then they aren’t even aware they are dead. The Lord is telling us what death is like here. The wicked are also in the same state until they are burnt up (not eternally burning) in the lake of fire. I cannot discuss everything here but to see what happens when you die see this study.

Q: Does God teach Job about a dinosaur?

Job 40:15 “Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.”

“in coprolites that the authors attribute to titanosaurid sauropods that lived in central India about 65 to 71 million years ago. Their data indicate that those dinosaurs ate grasses”. - Research Gate [disclaimer: we don’t agree with the dating of the finds]

Job 40:16 “Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.”

Job 40:17 “He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.”

Job 40:20  “Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play”

Job 40:23  “Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.”

How does the sauropod drink up a river and hasteth not? The word “drinketh” in the Hebrew actually means “to oppress”, and hasteth in this verse translates from the word which means “to flee”. In other words, he oppresses the river and doesn’t flee, he’s territorial. The way the river would be oppressed is once all the animals near the river see him coming they flee, but it doesn’t happen the other way around.

Why does the Lord mention the river Jordan?

The Lord mentioning this river is just perfect and absolutely conclusive, The speed of flow in the river Jordan was very rapid, it has since decreased, “this important regional water resource [the river Jordan] carried an average of 1.3 billion cubic meters of fresh water from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea every year until the 1930s (Anisfeld, 2009)”. Mathematically speaking that would be 41,195 litres of water per second (conversion calculator). This would also be roughly 1454 cfs (conversion calculator). To put things into perspective “In the Tuolumne River in California, very low flows can be 700 cfs. So every single second at low water on ‘the T,’ 43,680 lbs. of water are flowing by— the equivalent poundage of 3.12 large elephants. Or for you math minded folks, nearly π large elephants”. (source) So 1454 cfs would be 6.48 Elephants of water per second. The Sauropod could withstand that intensity of river flow for a drink. Here is a video showing what 1500 cfs is like, a sauropod could withstand that to drink: 1500 cfs

Q: Do Locusts have a leader?

Proverbs 30:27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands.

"Simpson began his research trying to understand why and how an ordinary grasshopper morphs into a locust, changing from a camouflaged, solitary animal into a social, aggressive, strikingly black-and-yellow member of an insect swarm.

Early work showed that population density triggered the behavioral and physical changes. When populations of the grasshoppers — gathering because they’d been attracted by a food source — reached a critical threshold, they switched from being shy and avoiding contact to being social and swarming.

Then came an examination of the organization of swarms, and the finding that though the behavior is coordinated, the swarms contain no leaders. Instead, swarm behavior is driven by that of the individual reacting to nearby conditions. The major force among those local conditions is proximity to neighbors, because, it turns out, locusts are afraid of cannibalism". - news.harvard.edu

Q: Did snakes have limbs?

Genesis 3:14 “And the Lord God said unto the serpentBecause thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life”.

Note: we obviously disagree with the 150 million years dating, the DNA sequence would be observable however.

The ancestors of today’s slithery snakes once sported full-fledged arms and legs, but genetic mutations caused the reptiles to lose all four of their limbs about 150 million years ago, according to two new studies. The findings are welcome news to herpetologists, who have long wondered what genetic changes caused snakes to lose their arms and legs, the researchers said…Both studies showed that mutations in a stretch of snake DNA called ZRS (the Zone of Polarizing Activity Regulatory Sequence) were responsible for the limb-altering change. But the two research teams used different techniques to arrive at their findings”. - CBS

Q: Does God give every creature the same level of wisdom and intelligence?

Job 38:36 “Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?”

Wisdom in this context is ethical wisdom, knowing right from wrong. Understanding is intelligence.

Job 39:13 “Gavest thou the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? 14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust, 15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them. 16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear; 17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.”

Ostriches often lay their eggs in a harem, where different female ostriches (hens), take care of incubating the eggs. Sometimes they forget to switch over and you can get stray eggs.

Q: Do hawks fly south?

Job 39:26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?

Thousands of hawks are doing what we all wish we could – flying south for the winter. In Michigan, for example, metro Detroiters are noticing hundreds of hawks flying in the sky and resting in backyards. In the last five days alone, the Detroit River Hawk Watch has counted 9,934 hawks”. - usatoday

Where do eagles live? Do they have good eyesight? Do they feed on blood?

Habitat

Job 39:27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? 28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rockupon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

“Golden eagles generally prefer open areas for hunting, surrounded by hills, cliff edges, or mountains where they can roost and nest. They are often seen soaring over open grass and shrublands, tundra, desert, or agricultural areas in search of prey”. - birdfact

Diet for young

Job 39:30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

In the Hebrew the word used for “suck” means to “sip in eagerly” or “to suck in”. Hence they are eager for the blood.

Q: Where do wild donkeys live? and what do they eat?

Job 39:5-8 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver. The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.

Q: Does nature have laws?

Job 38:33 “Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?”

An ordinance in the Bible is a type of law, Leviticus 18:4 “Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God”. In plain English the verse is simply saying: “do you know the laws of the sky, can you establish those same rules in the earth”

“law of nature, in the philosophy of science, a stated regularity in the relations or order of phenomena in the world that holds, under a stipulated set of conditions, either universally or in a stated proportion of instances”. - Britannica

Just a quick point to add, science is not possible without laws, why do we say this? That is because one of the conditions of the scientific method is that something is repeatable. Therefore, to conduct scientific experiments with an expected outcome it hinges on assumptions which scientists believe to hold true as a set rule.

Then the Lord gives Job two rules he can set on the earth when you read verse 34 and 35 “sound causing rain, electricity sending sound”.

Job 38:33-35 “Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?  34 Canst thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee? 35 Canst thou send lightnings, that they may go and say unto thee, Here we are?”

It has taken us a while, but we’ve finally done it.

Q: Did Job know about cavemen?

Context needed: Job was complaining about everything he was suffering. In his complaints he mentioned that there were youths whose ancestors he wouldn’t have even let work with his dogs.

Job 30:1  “But now they that are younger than I have me in derision [mockery], whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.”

“Fathers” in the Bible can refer to your immediate father, or your ancestors. We know Job is talking about their ancestors because he explains the origins of these people in verse three.

Job 30:3  “For want [lack] and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.”

Job explains that because of famine and lack of resources the ancestors of these people fled into the wilderness in past times.

Job 30:4  “Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat. 5 They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;) 6 To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. 7 Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together. 8 They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.”

So the ancestors of the people mocking Job have a few key indicators.

1. These ancestors would cut up plants found in marshes.

According to the study “Persistent Neanderthal occupation of the open-air site of ‘Ein Qashish, Israel”. The “Skeletal evidence suggests that these remains [of humans] were associated with Neanderthals.” The Area of Ein Qashish consists of multiple marshes as the river Kishon runs through the area. “Ein Qashish is a 70-60 thousand years open-air site, with a series of stratified human occupations in a dynamic flood plain environment” (link).  “The human occupation took place concomitantly [at the same time] with cycles of marshes and draining of ephemeral water bodies, interspersed with periods of landscape stabilization, at an interface of marsh and floodplain dynamics. It was suggested that the MP [Middle Paleolithic] human occupation could only be seasonal since in winter the area was likely flooded repeatedly with seasonal high water stands”. - PLOS ONE

2. These ancestors would eat the juniper plant and use plants like nettles.

“Akazawa reviewed carbonized plant remains from a Neanderthal site at Douara Cave, Syria, including nettle tree (Celtis australis L. and C. tournefortii Lam.) endocarps and Boraginaceae nutlets and seed spodograms, as well as small numbers of Pinus, Juniperus [Juniper], Artemisia, Chenopodiaceae, Poaceae, and Pistacia pollen grains”. - National Library of Medicine

3. These ancestors lived in caves and valleys.

Because Neanderthals lived in a land of abundant limestone caves, which preserved bones well, and where there has been a long history of prehistoric research, they are better known than any other archaic human group. Consequently, they have become the archetypal “cavemen.” The name Neanderthal (or Neandertal) derives from the Neander Valley (German Neander Thal or Neander Tal) in Germany, where the fossils were first found”. - Britannica

4. These ancestors in comparison to Job and the people of his time were not hygienic.

Our research suggests that diseases may have played a more important role in the extinction of the Neanderthals than previously thought. They may even be the main reason why modern humans are now the only human group left on the planet”. - Science Daily

What appears to be the case is that after the flood of Noah, or the great division, resources were very scarce. At some point due to a famine or general lack of food, or a combination of the two, the lowest class of people in these cities were kicked out of the community, this was to conserve resources. These people then found it easier to live in caves. They were sectioned off from society, breeding from a restricted gene pool with harsh environments, this led to a lot of deformities such as smaller heights and more disease. Some of these Neanderthals/cavemen were attractive enough to mate back into the general human population, at different points throughout history. However, over time due to disease and competition the Neanderthals went extinct, but because a few of them mated back into the normal population, some humans have traces of Neanderthal DNA. Their history is noted here Job 30:5 “They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)”. These groups of people were driven away, why? Job 30:8 “They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth”. The conclusion would be that Neanderthals branched off from humans, however, due to the unhygienic lifestyle and inbreeding, they eventually died off and their offspring would have a higher chance of catching diseases.

Last point to raise is why did Job say he would disdain to set these cavemen with his dogs? Verse two holds the answer, Job 30:2 “Yea, whereto [how] might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?” In modern speak Job is essentially saying “how will these cavemen help me who don’t even live long”.

Whilst data for Neanderthal life expectancy can only at best be a guess, it’s interesting to see how it’s not expected that most would make it to seventy or eighty. “Neanderthal paleodemographic death distributions by age, very few adults are  older  than  40”. - Chicago Press Journals

However, Job was living in a time where people from his family line lived longer, so even our average age today could be considered much lower than average by his standards. Job 42:16

After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations”.

“Inbreeding, a practice of mating between relatives, was common among Neanderthals according to previous research. Inbreeding also leads to a reduction of reproductive fitness.

Neanderthals had 40% lower reproductive fitness than modern humans, according to previous research cited in the new study”. - CNN

Q: Were man and beast made from dust?

Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”.

Genesis 2:19 “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.”

“’We propose that in early geological history clay hydrogel provided a confinement function for biomolecules and biochemical reactions,’ said Dan Luo, professor of biological and environmental engineering and a member of the Kavli Institute at Cornell for Nanoscale Science. … To further test the idea, the Luo group has demonstrated protein synthesis in a clay hydrogel. The researchers previously used synthetic hydrogels as a ‘cell-free’ medium for protein production. Fill the spongy material with DNA, amino acids, the right enzymes and a few bits of cellular machinery and you can make the proteins for which the DNA encodes, just as you might in a vat of cells. To make the process useful for producing large quantities of proteins, as in drug manufacturing, you need a lot of hydrogel, so the researchers set out to find a cheaper way to make it. Postdoctoral researcher Dayong Yang noticed that clay formed a hydrogel. Why consider clay? ‘It's dirt cheap,’ said Luo. Better yet, it turned out unexpectedly that using clay enhanced protein production”. - Eurekalert

Q: Why did God take a rib out of Adam?

Genesis 2:21 “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man”.

“There is very little information available in medical literature on rib regeneration [2005 study]. H.H. Steele studied 1840 ribs in 392 patients and found that the ribs regenerated in an average time of 3 months. Barret, D.S. et al. in a study of 55 patients (no: of ribs not mentioned) has quoted the average time for regeneration as 3.6 months after costectomy”. – National Library of Medicine

Prophecy

Q: Was it predicted that at the end of time, men would believe the world today operates in the same way as it did in the past?

2 Peter 3:3  “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his [Jesus’] coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”

Unfortunately, some people that tend to say "where is the sign of his coming?" tend to have blasphemy in their statements so i will not link such statements. However, even people who claim to believe in Christ expound this statement more and more.

“One-in-ten Americans say they believe the second coming of Jesus will definitely or probably occur during their lifetime, 27% are not sure if Jesus will return in their lifetime, and 19% say the return of Jesus will definitely or probably not occur during their lifetime.”. - Pewresearch

“uniformitarianism, in geology, the doctrine suggesting that Earth’s geologic processes acted in the same manner and with essentially the same intensity in the past as they do in the present and that such uniformity is sufficient to account for all geologic change. This principle is fundamental to geologic thinking and underlies the whole development of the science of geology…in other words, the present is the key to the past”. - Britannica

“The principle of uniformitarianism is essential to understanding Earth’s history. However, prior to 1830, uniformitarianism was not the prevailing theory”. – National Geographic

Q: Was it predicted that in the end of the world people will be willingly ignorant of the flood of Noah?

2 Peter 3:3 “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.”

Some hundreds of cultures living across different parts of the world all believed in an ancient flood. “Stories of a great ancient flood pervade the mythology of hundreds of cultures. Westerners might be most familiar with the story of Noah told in the Old Testament book of Genesis, but a great flood is reported in folklore from cultures around the world, from the Middle East to the Americas, India, China and Southern Asia to name just a few”. - howstuffworks

2004: “God’s creation of the Earth, Noah and the flood, Moses at the Red Sea: These pivotal stories from the Old Testament still resonate deeply with most Americans, who take the accounts literally rather than as a symbolic lesson. An ABC News poll released Sunday found that 61 percent of Americans believe the account of creation in the Bible’s book of Genesis is “literally true” rather than a story meant as a “lesson.” - Washingtontimes

2017 “WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Fewer than one in four Americans (24%) now believe the Bible is "the actual word of God, and is to be taken literally, word for word," similar to the 26% who view it as "a book of fables, legends, history and moral precepts recorded by man”. - Gallup

Whilst these are polls, the general trend still holds true, less believe in the flood of Noah and many are willingly ignorant of the flood. In fact, a lot aren’t aware of the large number of inconsistencies in the geological record. It would make sense why every culture in the past believed in the flood. If they are all descendants of Noah, the story would have passed down from generation to generation, each with their own embellishments. So how do we know the Biblical view is right? The Bible comes with a lot more evidence to sustain its claims such as the ones in this article and prophecies. All the other cultures wrote nothing that has bearing on the world today.

Q: Can people die from fear?

Jesus predicting what would happen in the last days said Luke 21:25 “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth…”

Getting scared to death may be rare, but it’s far from theoretical – there’s plenty of examples of people being frightened off their mortal coil throughout history… In fact, it’s probably more common than you think. According to Samuels, there’s about one sudden death every day in any major city – a number which increases after major catastrophes. For example, after the Fukushima disaster in 2011, the rates of sudden cardiac and unexpected death in nearby Iwate prefecture more than doubled compared to the previous year, and in 1994, when Los Angeles suffered one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded in the US, rates of sudden cardiac death immediately increased by a factor of five”. -iflscience

Conclusion

Since God knew these scientific facts, why didn’t he give us more?

Firstly, does God view mankind as currently evil or good?  Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”. Although the idea of God giving humanity such detailed scientific discoveries would be something many would love to have, God can see the downside. Although today we have phones and computers, there are a lot of people who live in fear of a nuclear war. Regarding technology, it can be used for good, and it can also be used for evil. Imagine if Hitler had nukes, don’t you think when he was backed into a corner, he would’ve used it? Imagine if Genghis Khan had greater weapons than the bow and arrow. Shall we bless the Persians with tanks who burnt Athens or Alexander the Great with riffles who burnt Persepolis? We like to think the more technology the happier we would be.

If all this was in the Bible? How come it was never spoken about before?

People generally have the perception that a lot have read the Bible to understand. The reality is a minority throughout history have read the book, let alone studied it. Let’s demonstrate this in a few sections.

Pre-600BC

Although the Bible has been the most printed book in history, it’s one of the least read books. In the time of ancient Israel pre 600BC, the general population rarely read or obeyed it. Both the educated and the uneducated couldn’t understand the prophecies within it. Isaiah 29:11-12 “And the vision of all is become unto you [the Israelites] as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.”

The Torah was so underread that at one point in roughly 623-622 BC, the high priest stumbled across the law that Moses wrote (who lived roughly one thousand years before him). 2 kings 22:8 “And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. 9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again… 10 And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king”.

The king after hearing the words then rips his clothes as he essentially says “no one has been listening to this book” 2 kings 22:11 “And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes. 12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king's, saying, 13 Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this bookto do according unto all that which is written concerning us”. Forget learning about prophecy and science, they didn’t even adhere to things such as Passover.

They would have some Passovers every few hundred years or so, but they hadn’t had a Passover that great and complete since the days of their judges. 2 Kings 23:22 “Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israelnor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah”. The days of the judges were more than four hundred years prior to that time. This would be like saying “we hadn’t had such a great bank holiday since the time of King James I”.

Post-600BC to Christ.

From the time of the Babylonian Era to Christ, A lot of Israelites still didn’t really listen to God. This is a theme you find over and over again in the old testament. Malachi 2:1-2 “If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart”. Again the same theme was repeating, not listening to God. Zechariah 7:7 “Should ye not hear the words which the Lord hath cried by the former prophets…”?

Christ to 1800 AD.

After Christ, Christians were heavily persecuted by imperial Rome, and the Catholic Church also became so powerful they banned people from reading the Bible for hundreds of years. “No one may possess the books of the Old and New Testaments in the Romance language, and if anyone possesses them he must turn them over to the local bishop within eight days after the promulgation of this decree, so they may be burned”. – Collection of cannons of the Spanish church, Volume 3, page 363.

“It is evidence from experience, that the holy Scriptures, when circulated in the vulgar tongue, have, through the temerity of men, produced more harm than benefit”. – Magno et acerbo, Pope Pius VII, 3 September 1816

1800 AD to Current Day.

Now the Vatican hasn't had power to restrict the Bible from people, however a lot of people today don’t even open their Bibles. “The survey found that most Christian millennials in the UK (51%) engage with the Bible a few times a year, or less. Only 9% read the Bible every day and a mere 13% look at the scriptures “a few times a week”. - PremiereChristianity

The 9% number is probably an overreporting, but I believe it’s clear, throughout history either people have not been reading the Bible or it’s been censored.

Long story short, all of humanity is deceived. Revelation 12:9 “… the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world…” Our fathers have inherited lies and passed them on. Jeremiah 16:19 “O Lord, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of afflictionthe Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit”.

All in all, God has given us great knowledge and wisdom. Remember at the beginning of this study Job’s attitude towards God? Let’s see the change in Job’s attitude before and after he spoke with the Lord.

Before: Job 23:3 “Oh that I knew where I might find him (God)! that I might come even to his seat! 4 I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments”.

After: Job 40:3 Then Job answered the Lord, and said, 4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

It’s easy to argue against someone hypothetically in your imagination. To argue with the Lord is another thing. You’re not just arguing with a scientist, you’re arguing with the creator of science. For those who will choose to remain stubborn, the Lord is going to convince them all where they went wrong before the whole universe. Jude 1:15 “To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him”. The Lord has already predicted that every single person is going to confess he was right all along, they were deceived and everyone will bow. Please i pray, do not be caught wrong before the entire universe but repent and turn to the Lord whilst there’s still time.
